Health measures to protect employees, government aid, prospects for resumption of activity: three weeks after the entry into force of the confinement, the general delegate of the Union of industries and metallurgy trades (UIMM), Hubert Mongon, makes update on the economic and social situation of the industry in an interview with “Echos”.
In the metallurgy, you signed a joint declaration with three unions out of four, an agreement on the fixing of paid leave by the employer with the same… Are you betting on social dialogue in the crisis?
We have long been convinced at the UIMM that to create a social standard that is as close as possible to needs and that is sustainable, it is necessary to go through social dialogue. In times of crisis, this necessity becomes paramount. We have already experienced this in 2008. As soon as the confinement was announced, it seemed important to us to find ourselves with the top priority of preserving the health of our employees and from that, the need to find the conditions for a rapid resumption of activity if possible.
