Patrick Barbe has left BNPP AM for Neuberger Berman

Until then director of sovereign bond investments at BNP Paribas AM and, in this capacity, responsible for the management of approximately 49 billion euros in assets, Patrick Barbe joined the American Neuberger Berman as senior manager. He brings four managers and a quantitative analyst from his former team. Neuberger Berman, who until then had only one sales office (three people) in Paris, is strengthening its presence in France. The Parisian team will have nine people. The company plans to launch several European bond funds and strategies in the coming months.


Aged 55, Patrick Barbe obtained his actuarial diploma in 1988 from the Institut des Sciences Financières et d’Assurances (ISFA) in Lyon. He began his career as a manager at BNP Paribas in 1990. He then headed the European bond investment department of BNP Paribas AM from 1997 to 2018.


The American Neuberger Berman managed 304 billion dollars in assets as of June 30, including 2 billion on behalf of French clients, 70% of institutional investors and 30% of private and multi-manager banks. In bonds, the company has 133 billion dollars in assets.
